Thanks To You, Coach!
Many people believe that coaching is an easy job, that it is merely a way of telling an individual how to do things. The truth is that about half of what an accomplished athlete has become, he owes to the coach. A player’s inborn talents alone won’t make him a big star; he needs the able tutelage and guidance of his mentor for him to emerge as an athlete to reckon with. What his coach taught him in his early days as an athlete will stay with him until his retirement age.
A good coach will, first and foremost, teach his players the importance of team playing. Every player in a team is equally important because each has a special assignment for completing a play. Otherwise, a team can’t be successful. Sharing skills and talents with each and every member of a team will result in greater achievements and give glory to all of them. A victory of a team is a victory of everyone belonging to that team, including the manager and of course, the coach.
If you are aspiring to be renowned player in the future, you must first understand that the key to being on top of the crop and staying on that spot is a healthy mind and body. This can be achieved by doing thorough exercises, maintaining a proper diet and practicing clean living. It is a proven fact that adults who have indulged in sports at their early ages become much more active and end up as achievers, more than those who were not as sports-minded during their youth.
Teaching children the importance of sports in their early childhood will greatly affect their performance as individuals when they become adults. When a child understands that sports will give him not only physical but also mental health, he will gain a positive attitude in life which will be a major factor as to what kind of player he becomes as he grows older. Every good performance will earn for him accolades not only from his coach and co-players, but from other children as well. Praises for a job well done will then motivate him to always give his best in every game, a positive attitude that will be carried on until his adulthood.
An individual may become a star player because of his inborn skills and talents, but with the proper training from a coach, he will turn out to be an even greater star. A coach is worthless without a good player to teach, just as a good player is nothing without an effective coach.
